Being environmentally friendly has been a priority for Sarno Photography & Graphic Design™ since before Daniel Sarno created the business. Daniel Sarno has always been earth friendly in all his personal practices, so it was only natural to extend his concern for the planet to his business and to his environmentally friendly marketing services. Sarno Photography & Graphic Design™ has always had the following environmentally friendly business practices as standard procedure in its daily operations:

  • Reduce: packaging, plastic, non-biodegradable supplies, all waste possible
  • Reuse: paper, packaging, anything possible
  • Recycle: anything that can be recycled
  • Use energy-efficient equipment and practices: Turn down the heat when not in the office. Turn off all computers each night.  Only use AC when absolutely necessary. Use energy-efficient light bulbs.
  • Use only nontoxic and biodegradable cleaners.
  • All invoice and billing is paperless.
  • Participate in Adopt-a-Highway programs

Environmentally Friendly Photography

  • Using mostly digital photography. Digital photography uses no chemicals or pollutants to capture and process photos.
  • When processing and printing photos from film, the lab practices silver recovery. The bleach and fixer is collected and run through a silver recovery system to remove the heavy metals. The silver recovery canisters are then sent to a refinery.
  • We use only rechargeable batteries.
  • We recycle, sell or donate all old photographic equipment.
  • All proofs are posted on the web to eliminate paper, ink, chemicals, and other printing waste.
  • All final images are delivered electronically to eliminate plastic and other material waste used for CD, DVD, and USB drive delivery.
  • Framed art is fully recyclable.

Environmentally Friendly Graphic Design

  • Rough drafts and concepts are drawn on reused or recycled paper and then are recycled themselves.
  • All designs are created on the computer to eliminate paper, ink, and other material waste.
  • All proofs are posted on the web to eliminate paper, ink, chemicals, and other printing waste.
  • Final printed products are printed on recycled paper whenever possible. All inks are biodegradable soy-based inks.
  • All paper used is FSC-certified paper stock which guarantees no clear-cutting of rain forests and no slave labor!
    All printing plates are chemical free, and at the end of their useful life they are fully recycled by the manufacturer and made into new equipment.

Environmentally Friendly Website Design

Website design by its nature is very earth friendly because it requires no physical materials to produce. However, it does require computers and energy to design and host websites.

  • Use wind energy to power all web hosting servers.
  • Servers and design computers are used for as long as possible and then are used as backup equipment to reduce their environmental impact. Once they are no longer useful they are donated or recycled.
